Services in a Google Business Profile - how to describe them concretely
The services section is where a customer stops reading the general description and checks whether you do exactly what they need. Good service entries are short, concrete and written in the customer's language.
Who this is for
local businesses, clinics, workshops, salons, specialists and B2C service providers
The business problem
Many profiles have empty services or entries like comprehensive services. The customer then has to call with a basic question, or moves on to a competitor who shows the scope right away.
Practical example
For a car workshop, repairs is not enough. Better entries are computer diagnostics, brake pad replacement, air conditioning service, pre-purchase inspection. Each service answers a different customer intent.
What to prepare
Name the service the way the customer says it. That is not always the technical name. If people search for air conditioning repair, do not hide it under an internal HVAC category.
The service description should explain scope, time, conditions and outcome. It does not have to be long. A few sentences answering what it covers, who it is for and when to choose it are enough.
Publish prices when they reduce mismatched enquiries. You can use ranges or from prices, but never list a price you cannot keep.
The list should be complete but not chaotic. Ten clear entries beat thirty similar names that differ by one word.
- Use service names from the customer's language.
- Add a short description of scope and outcome.
- Group similar services logically.
- Remove entries you do not actually sell.
- Match services to the description and category.
FAQ
Does every service need a price?
No. A price helps when the offer is repeatable. For scope-dependent services, a description plus what the quote depends on is enough.
How many services should I add?
As many as customers genuinely recognise as separate needs. Do not split one service into artificial variants.
Can I use keywords?
Yes, but naturally. A service entry must be understandable to the customer, not stuffed with phrases.
